Telecommunications and Network Services recently conducted surveys in all University residence halls testing the signal strength of major cellular carriers including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon.

As a result of the Student Affairs-requested radio frequency surveys, a distributed antennae system is scheduled for implementation in the following University residence halls by October 15:

  • East Fairchild Residence Hall
  • West Fairchild Residence Hall
  • 610 Lincoln Street (Formerly Hinman House Residence Hall)
  • Kemper Residence Hall
  • Bobb/McCulloch Residence Hall
  • Slivka Residence Hall
  • University Career Services (620 Lincoln Street)

Impact on End User

Beginning September 1, service from Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon will connect to the Distributed Antennae System to provide improved service in the above locations. AT&T has committed to be connected shortly thereafter.

NOTE: Though the Distributed Antennae System provides improved service, call quality may vary based on individual cellular provider and is not controlled or managed by NUIT. NUIT neither endorses nor recommends any cellular phone vendor or service.
