Depot, the Web-based document management tool for the University, was successfully upgraded to version 7.0 on Sunday, July 20, 2008.

The new features and enhanced functionality of Depot 7.0 provides users with a more efficient and secure means of uploading and sharing files and documents.

Impact on End User

Users will notice a new user interface with an updated look-and-feel, better support for Macintosh users, and new features including:

  • Drag and drop file uploads
  • RSS feeds
  • "Wizards" for some procedures, such as for setting permissions on files and folders
  • File tags
  • Individual user configurability
  • Improved labeling of user functions

Programs designed to educate users on the new Depot version are scheduled for this summer and during the first weeks of the fall quarter.

  • Informal drop-in sessions offer users a demonstration of the new interface, including such features as bookmarks and saved searches. Registration is requested.
  • Formal workshops offer attendees hands-on training of the Depot 7.0 features and the opportunity for questions.
