NUIT has recently added Webconferencing to its list of services available to faculty and staff for administrative use. Webconferencing provides the ability to hosts and participate in meetings and events from any computer that has a high-speed Internet connection and a Web browser with Adobe's Flash Player installed.
This service is ideal for small, one-on-one meetings or for larger events of up to 100 attendees, and anything in between. Webconferencing supports live audio and video and features desktop, application, and file-sharing. Events can also be recorded for later viewings or for participants unable to attend. Additional features of Webconferencing include:
- Tools such as polls and whiteboards
- Integrated private or group chat
- Meeting hosts can manage attendees and accept and deny access
Additionally, NUIT also offers two alternative teleconferencing options to mitigate known issues with the quality of Adobe Connect Pro’s integrated audio feature.
For more information, visit the Webconferencing page on the NUIT Web site.
Impact on End User
Webconferencing offers an additional meeting and event resource to staff and faculty at the University, providing more sharing and interactive capabilities than a teleconference but requiring less time to set up than a videoconference or webcast.
Software licenses are available for purchase to University faculty and staff with a valid NetID. Cost information and an online order form are available on the Webconference Meeting Host Account Order Form page.
NUIT also offers a Quick Reference for Meeting Host Account license holders, as well as for participants who have never attended a Webconference in the past.
