E-mail Account Expiration

Audience:

All persons accessing computer or network resources through any network or University facility.

Policy Statement:

E-mail accounts expire when your affiliation with the University ends. Employee e-mail accounts last about 42 days after termination; student accounts last about 120 days. You have the option of forwarding your NU e-mail to another e-mail address.

Some special accounts expire unless the owner's dean, director, or department chair requests in writing that they be renewed. If you have received notice that an e-mail account is expiring, but it should not be, you will need to renew it.

To request an extension for an account due to expire, the dean, director or chairperson of the department sponsoring the account can send an e-mail request to email-accounts@northwestern.edu, fax a request to 847-467-5988, or mail a request on department letterhead to E-mail Accounts, Kresge Hall, Room 1-435, Evanston campus.
