Quest Scheduled Maintenance Begins June 19

To improve system performance and security, Northwestern Information Technology (IT) will perform annual maintenance on Quest, the University’s high performance computing cluster, to improve system performance and security beginning Monday, June 19 at 5:00 a.m. and ending at 11:55 p.m. on Friday, June 23.

Quest will be unavailable during the maintenance period.

Maintenance activities will include updating the operating system from Red Hat 6 to Red Hat 7 on all login and compute nodes.

Northwestern IT is working closely with researchers to plan for this system outage.

End User Impact

University researchers using Quest for their computational investigations will experience system downtime as a result of this maintenance. Check Status of University IT Services for updates.

After the maintenance period some application may need to be reinstalled and some codes may need to re-compiled:
