New AI tools, training, and guidance continue to become available to help Northwestern students, faculty, and staff choose appropriate resources, build practical skills, and use artificial intelligence responsibly in their learning, teaching, research, and work. Explore the New AI at Northwestern Website

The University has launched a new AI at Northwestern website that serves as a central destination for AI news, initiatives, resources, and information from across Northwestern.

The site highlights how AI is being used to advance teaching, learning, research, and administration while helping visitors stay informed about AI-related developments and opportunities throughout the Northwestern community.

New AI Resources from Northwestern IT

Northwestern IT recently enhanced its AI website to help community members more easily discover AI-related tools, guidance, and learning opportunities.

Among the updates is a new AI Tools page that features filtering options, allowing users to quickly find tools based on their needs and interests. Northwestern IT has also introduced a new Pathways to Learning page that brings together workshops, self-paced training, and other educational resources in a single location, making it easier to identify learning opportunities that match your experience level and goals.

Expanded Access to AI Tools

Northwestern already provides secure access to Microsoft Copilot, including Copilot Chat at no cost to students, faculty, and staff and Microsoft 365 Copilot Premium licenses that add AI capabilities within apps such as Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint. These offerings give the University community a strong foundation for using generative AI in everyday work, teaching, learning, and research as Northwestern introduces additional enterprise-supported tools.

Students, faculty, and staff with Google Workspace accounts (u.northwestern.edu Workspace only) can now access the Google Gemini app, providing another option for using generative AI for use cases that do not involve sensitive data (e.g., student data, internal administrative data, etc.).

Claude for Enterprise is now available to faculty and staff in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, McCormick School of Engineering, and Pritzker School of Law. Anthropic’s enterprise AI platform can help eligible users brainstorm ideas, summarize information, draft content, and answer questions. It also handles complex software development, document summarization, and local file organization through specialized tools like Claude Code and Cowork.

New Generative AI Training Module Available

For those interested in building foundational AI knowledge, a new Generative AI online training module is available through myHR Learn. The course introduces generative AI concepts, practical applications, and guidance for using AI tools effectively and responsibly. It offers an accessible starting point for anyone looking to understand how AI can support work, teaching, learning, or research.
